Etape du Tour: Foix - Loudenvielle - July 16, 2007

The Etape du Tour, France's most prestigious cyclosportive race (if not in the world!) will take place on July 16 in the Pyrenees, from Foix to Loudenvielle, which comprises the 15th Stage of the 2007 Tour de France. This monster of a stage is one of the most challenging, rich, and intense of this coming year's Tour de France our and consists of 196 kilometers (122 miles) and five mountain passes, not to mention some stupendous scenery!

Starting in Foix, the route begins with an 11.4 km (7 miles) climb up to the Col de Port (1249 m - 3,750 ft.), continues with a 5.7 km (3.5 miles) climb to Col de Portet d'Aspet (1069 m - 3,210 ft.), puts you to the test with a gruelling 7 km (4 miles) ascent of the Col de Mente (1349 m or 4,405 ft.), continues to put the pressure on with another long climb of 19.2 km (12 miles) to the Col du Port de Bales (1755 m - 5,265ft.), and gives you yet another chance to climb with the final 9.7 km (6 miles) ascent of the Col de Peyresourde (1569m - 4,710 ft.). All in all, an amazing opportunity and a phenomenal ride!

As you will notice, most >"entry-only" places have been aside for our existing "regular" clients. The few remaining will be allocated in connection to a selection of some of the trips we offer. These will allow you to improve and be ready for this challenging event. We do not recommend entering the Etape unless you have a few "centuries" (not metric, miles!) under your belt!
