Cycling tours in Burgundy: Short escapes and week-long trips

Discover magnificent castles on your cycle tour

Every meal feels like a feast in Burgundy. It's almost as though its chefs realize gastronomy is the word astronomy with the letter "g", motivating them to create out-of-this-world tastes. Chaource cheese, jambon persille (ham — it sounds more dramatic in French), and Dijon mustard are just a few examples which make this region so famous for catering to the sense of taste that we are convinced even its air possesses calories. And oh yes, did we mention wine?

Located in the center of France's famous wine country, Burgundy may be our only tour where riders use their Camelback water carriers not for quenching thirst, but for cleansing the palate.

Some of the world's greatest vintages originate from here and include Pommard, Meursault, Gevrey Chambertin, Nuits-St-Georges, and Montrachet. Add in a romantic mix of pastoral villages along sleepy canals and mind-staggering architecture such as the Cathedrale St Etienne in Auxerre, and the Basilique Ste Madeleine in Vezelay and it is easy to understand the popularity of these tours.

Regardless of your fitness level and the amount of time you have at your disposal, you can find a tour to your liking.

Our week-long itineraries will allow you to explore Burgundy from Dijon to Villefranche (Villefranche is located between Macon and Lyon). To explore the area between Dijon and Beaune,  Cycling through Wine Labels is our most comprehensive tour: Not only will you see the wine-making part of Burgundy and its famous villages and towns, but you will also enjoy its farmland before cycling along the Burgundy Canal back to Dijon.
Green Ways and Red Wines focuses on the area south of Beaune. As south as the Abbey of Cluny. Further south, our more difficult "Beaujolais Cycling" will let you explore the very scenic Beaujolais region.

Our shorter cycling trips are no less rewarding whether you wish to explore the area around Beaune or the Beaujolais region further in the south.
