Day 1: Arrive in Strasbourg
Strasbourg has its own international airport with connections to other European cities; Strasbourg is also easily accessible by TGV from Paris (in just over 2 hours), and from airports in cities such as Basel, Switzerland and Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany. Once you arrive in Strasbourg, we will transfer you to your four-star hotel; afterwards, you can enjoy the city by night as you wish! |
|

Day 2: Option A+: Strasbourg to Obernai (approx. 30 km or 19 miles) or Option A: Strasbourg to Barr (approx. 55 km or 34 miles) Regardless of the option you choose, you’ll follow the same route. Barr being a bit a bit further south, Option A involves a bit more cycling. Your itinerary will make good use of one of the prettiest cycling paths in all of Alsace, along the Canal de la Buche, which used to be a horse-path for barges on the canal. Your route will take you through rolling hills and green vineyards, making this the ideal warm-up ride and an exceptional introduction to the next few days’ program. Along the way, you may stop in Molsheim which contains fine examples of Alsatian architecture throughout the ages. Your destinations: Obernai (Option A+) which sits at the crossroads of the Alsatian vineyards and the Vosges mountains or the pretty town of Barr (Option A), are both very scenic and picture-perfect: colorful in the summer with traditional houses and neat cobblestone streets.

Day 3: Option A+: Obernai to Riquewihr or Option A: Barr to Kaysersberg - approx. 55 km or 34 miles
On paved roads, far from the traffic of the Wine Route, you will set out across the vineyard region. You will pass through villages made up of half-timbered houses where the geraniums overflow from their window boxes. Mittelbergheim, Dambach la Ville, Ribeauvillé, and Riquewihr are among the most beautiful villages of France. Observe the finely preserved medieval architecture of Dambach la Ville, or maybe catch a tune from the traveling musicians in Ribeauvillé. Whether you choose Option A or Option A+, you won’t be disappointed with your place of stay: Both Kaysersberg and Riquewhir are very pretty medieval villages. |
| |
Day 4: Option A+: Riquewihr to Colmar (approx. 42 km or 26 miles) or Option A: Kaysersberg to Colmar (approx. 38 km or 24 miles)
The Wine Route and its stunning chain of villages will bring you to Colmar, the capital of wine and art in Alsace. Artists such as Bartholdi, sculptor of the Statue of Liberty, and Renaissance painters Martin Schoengauer and Mathias Grüneweld, have called Colmar home. You can take some time to visit the Unterlinden Museum of Renaissance art, and definitely don’t miss “Little Venice”, an artisanal quarter located on the canal. Tonight, stay at a three-star hotel, and enjoy the ambiance of Colmar. |
| |
Day 5: From Colmar to Strasbourg: Train or Train + 25 km with bicycle of Erstein to Strasbourg. Benefit from your day when you will have only maximum 25 km of cycling (if you choose!). See all the splendors of Colmar’s old city and its more modern quarters. We will give you full information on the TER train station and the departure time of your train; bring your bicycle on board, and be in Strasbourg in 30 minutes! If you wish, you can disembark at Erstein and cycle back to the capital of Alsace.
Finally, your last night in Strasbourg will be at a four-star hotel. |
