| Itinerary: |

Day 1: Arrive in Aurillac
Upon arriving in the picturesque market village of Aurillac, you'll
be ushered to your hotel. There you'll meet with Philippe, our regional
expert who will verse you on all you need to know about your self-guided
tour, including contact numbers, maps and recommendations. Dinner and
overnigt at your hotel.

Day 2: Aurillac to Vic-sur-Cere (73 km or 45 miles)
Today's ride wanders northeast through the heart of the famous Monts-du-Cantal.
Emerald green valleys ornamented with tiny villages and distant Medieval
castles entertain the eyes like a continuous visual happy hour. You'll
spend the night in Vic-sur-Cere. If time and/or legs allow you can pedal
the nearby Castle of Pesteil. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. .

Day 3: Vic-sur-Cere to
Salers (60 km or 38 miles)
The Puy-Mary, a climb made famous in the 2004 Tour de France (and in the
2004 Etape du Tour) highlights this 60-kilometer route. The views from
atop furnish privileged view of the Monts-du-Cantal. At night, you'll
lodge in Salers, recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Day 4: Loop around Salers (62 km or 39 miles)
Along the wasy, you'll have the opportunity to tour the Chateau d'Anjony,
a virtual grandstand to 16th century art and architecture. And the hillside
village of Tournemire, which overlooks the River Doire Valley, showcases
tiny slate roof buildings constructed from volcanic rock lending it
must-visit status. But again, because it is your tour, you decide on
whether or not to visit. At night, you'll again lodge in Salers.

Day 5: Salers to Laroquebrou
(70 km or 44 miles)
The ride winds through a rural landscape highlighted by lush pine and
beech forests and postcard villages. Pleaux, with its turreted stone buildings
rate as a virtual monument to Medieval architecture, making it visit-worthy.
At night, you'll lodge in Laroquebrou, another Old World village of stunning
architectural choreograhy. |

Day 6: Options around Laroquebrou
Using Laroquebrou as a home base, you'll follow a route that we call
the Pedal and Plunge Loop! This 68-kilometer ride snakes past glacially
carved Saint Etienene Lake. The village of Siran, another rural center
full of gold star Medieval architecture, warrants a high wow-rating.
You'll spend the night back in Laroquebrou.

Day 7: Laroquebrou to Aurillac (81 km or 50 miles)
Today's ride winds through France's famous Chestnut Grove. Along
the way, your eyes will be treated to an agrarian setting flecked with
distant farms and pastoral villages. Marcoles, a former fortified town
features architecture dating back to the 13th century. Before reaching
Aurillac, you'll have the option to visit the Conros Castle, a virtual
museum featuring 16th century frescoes, a vaulted arms room and a permanent
"ode aux parfums" exhbition..
