Itinerary

D1Arrival in Bordeaux

Arrive in Bordeaux at the time of your choice. Your comfortable hotel is conveniently located near the train station. A short walk from your hotel, you’ll find remarkable restaurants where you can experience the local cuisine and get a head start on sampling the region’s finest wines.

D2Bordeaux — Courpiac 38 km/24 miles, 390 meters/1,275 ft of climbing

In the morning, we’ll pick you up and transfer you to Créon in the heart of Entre-Deux-Mers, and you’ll receive your bike and all necessary materials from our team. Most of today’s ride takes place on the traffic-free bikeway “Piste Roger Lapébie.” You will pass the Abbaye de La Sauve Majeure, a historic Benedictine abbey — climb the tower for great panoramic views! At the foot of the abbey, you will find the Maison des Vins de l'Entre-deux-Mers overlooking the 1,500 hectares of vineyards run by 240 different wine producers

One of the most unique sites along this ride is the farm “theme park” called Oh! Légumes Oubliés (Oh! Forgotten Vegetables), a unique site with orchardsconservatoriesgardens, and a maze. Plants outnumber people here, and you’ll find yourself blissfully “off-the-grid” in the tiny village of Courpiac. The village population hovers around 100!

D3Courpiac — Ruch 28 km/17 miles, 370 meters/1,220 ft of climbing

Today’s short ride will take you on very quiet roads through the vineyards to the town of Ruch. Lightly inhabited, with very little traffic, this area is ideal for cycling. Look for a small public lake near Blasimon, where you can partake in various outdoor activities.

While in town, stop at the Cave des vignerons réunis de Blasimon (Blasimon cooperative wine cellar), a co-op made up of 54 local certified wine estates. This is a great opportunity to taste or purchase some of the Entre-deux-Mers redrosé, or dry white wines with of “AOC” designation! ("Appelation d'Origine Controllee" or controlled designation of origin, guarantees that these wines are locally-produced and of great quality). Before you reach Ruch, you can take time to visit the Château de Rauzan. This medieval castle is complete with a walled fortress, bridge, spectacular dungeon and defense tower!

D4Loop from Ruch 55 km/34 miles, 480 meters/1,570 ft of climbing

You can choose to spend the day as you wish, but we highly suggest our loop as it leads to the world-renowned hilltop village of Saint-Emilion! Stroll through the historic center, find a place to enjoy lunch, search for the perfect souvenir — pass the time however you please! The way back takes you along tiny roads through rural cow farms, far away from the reminders of everyday life. (That is, of course, unless you are a farmer!) Conclude this memorable day with a dinner of authentic fare.

D5Ruch — Créon & Transfer to Bordeaux and Departure 33 km/21 miles, 375 meters/1,225 ft of climbing

After breakfast, depart Ruch and ride toward Créon. Most of the ride will take place on the traffic-free bikeway. Wheeling through the valley, you’ll encounter the remains of a 12th and 13th-century Benedictine abbey, Bastide et Abbaye de Blasimon. As you pass the rolling vineyards, perhaps you’ll stop once more at the Cave des vignerons réunis for one last wine tasting.
In Créon, you’ll have some time to visit the historic Bastide de Créon across from the main square of this traditional market town. From Créon, we will transfer you back to Bordeaux, where you are free to depart at your leisure.
