A Short Escape In Burgundy: 4-day bicycle tour

View Map
Our bicycle tour starts from Beaune

Nuits Saint George is included in your biking tour.

Located just two hours away from Paris by train, Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy, is ideal for a short escape from the hustle and bustle of big cities, crowded touristy places, and stuffy business atmospheres.

This 4-day vacation will take you, at your own relaxed pace, to names you've heard of ... and most probably names you have imbibed, on occasion! Pommard, Meursault, Volnay, Nuits St. George, and Gevrey will mean a lot more as they come to life in the form of welcome stops on your itinerary!

Although wine stops are many and there are plenty of bottles to be had, we still advise you to always carry (and indulge in) a bottle of Mother Nature’s finest ... water!

This bicycle trip is an easy one: from experience, active people who regularly walk or hike—not necessarily bike—will enjoy this tour.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Beaune

After checking in at your hotel in Beaune, you may take a stroll through the magnificent town itself and do some worthy sightseeing. The choice is yours to make the most of your time in this lovely area. Our local representative will meet you around 6pm to go over the itinerary and outfit you with bikes.
Day 2: Ride through Côte de Beaune (40 km or 24 miles)

This ride will take you to the Côte de Beaune area, where villages with wine-label names are yours to discover, including Volnay, Meursault, and Montrachet. In Santenay, overlooking the surrounding vineyards, you can taste some red wines -- in moderation -- before continuing on quaint and peaceful roads back to Beaune.
Day 3: Ride through Côtes-de-Nuits (45 km or 27 miles)

From Beaune, you will cycle through the Alex Corton vineyards and reach the Côte de Nuits, home of much celebrated red wines, where you are invited to a wine-tasting. Also on today's itinerary is the Cassissium in Nuits St. Georges, a unique museum devoted to cassis (black currant) that is of great interest to curious minds. The "Grands Crus" wine road will take you to Gevrey Chambertin for a visit/wine tasting of a domain. Another great visit is Clos Vougeot, renaissance castle and home to the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin (Burgundy Wine Brotherhood). After admiring the Romanee-Conti vineyard, a quiet road in bucolic surroundings will take you safely back to Beaune.
Day 4: Optional ride (through the Hautes Côtes de Beaune-40 km/24 miles) and departure

Today’s ride takes you through the Hautes Côtes de Beaune area and past Auxey Duresses, where vineyards dominate the town and wine tasting is possible…yet again! Quaint roads, superb scenery, and breathtaking views will be absorbed, photographed, and admired! And like magic, La Rochepot, a fairytale medieval castle dating from the 13th century, will appear…and, also like magic……after knocking 3 times on the drawbridge, you may enter and have a look round! The way back will take you to Beaune through Meursault. Departure from Beaune at the time of your choice.
