Itinerary:

Day 1:  Arrive in Olot
Arrive in Olot.  Please note that Olot is serviced by bus from Gerona.  Alternatively, we can greet you in Gerona (airport or train station) and transfer you to this small town located in the heart of the “Parc Natural de la Zona Volcanica de la Garrotxa.”  Although it may not look as charming as some of the other towns you will ride through in the next few days, it is worth straying away from its large streets and explore its narrow lanes that will lead you to hidden squares where you’ll find local bars and restaurants.

Day 2:  Olot – Sant Feliu de Pallerols (15 km or 10 miles)
The path you’ll follow is the old railway “El Carrilet d’Olot” that has been turned into a traffic-free bikeway.  It will take you through a very scenic rural area (the Bas Valley) known as the “Catalan Switzerland.”  On your way to your final destination, you’ll cycle through off-the-beaten-track small villages.  With its 1,100 inhabitants, Sant Feliu-de-Pallerols will seem like a big town!  This is where you’ll dine and overnight.

Day 3:  Sant Feliu de Pallerols – La Cellera de Ter/Amer (15 or 18 km ; 10 or 11.5 miles)
Sant-Feliu-de-Pallerols is located at the end of the valley of the Brugent river which you will follow all the way to your destination.  You are still in rural volcanic region of La Garrotxa and the mountains on both sides are old volcanoes.  Your destination is La Cellera de Ter at the confluence of the Ter and the Brugent rivers, a settlement that dates back to medieval times.  In the event that the farmhouse in La Cellera is fully booked on your travel dates, you’ll be accommodated 3 km further in the village of Amer.

Day 4:  La Cellera de Ter/Amer – Gerona (17 or 25 km ; 11 to 16 miles)
Today’s ride will take you to the charming town of Gerona.  Once there, you’ll have plenty of time to visit Gerona’s historic quarter with its monuments, shops and restaurants.  Of all its places of interest, its cathedral rates as a do-no-miss attraction.

Day 5:  Gerona – Campllong/Llagostera (13 or 16 km; 8 to 10 miles)
The town of Quart is located halfway through your ride.  Besides being an ideal lunch stop, it is also a place of interest known for its traditional pottery workshops.  A few more pedal strokes and you’ll be in Campllong where you’ll be accommodated in a farmhouse.  In the event, this place is full on your travel dates, 3 km further and you’ll be in Llagostera, in a rural area planted with vines and olive trees.

Day 6:  Campllong/Llagostera – San Feliu de Guixols (30 km or 19 miles)
Goodbye Green, Hello Blue!   Your trip’s longest—but easy—ride will take you to the beautiful coastal village of Sant Feli- de-Guixols.  There, you will be accommodated in a hotel by the sea allowing you to relax on the beach.
