The Catalonia region of northwest Spain is a unique and vibrant area, full of character, delicious food and wine, its own language, and much, much more! This picturesque and historic ride takes in some of the most breathtaking views, climbs, and coastline of Catalonia . Olive groves, vineyards, mountains, and beautiful and charming villages abound, making this a memorable and scenic cycling vacation.

Vacation? It may not be as it also offers some very challenging rides, and beautiful early-season weather with bike-friendly temperatures. These and many more reasons have led a pack of pros to elect residence in this beautiful part of Spain during the off-season.

Note that this tour can be turned into a 6, 7 or 8-day trips as many more loops are possible.
     
   
Itinerary:
 
Day 1: Arrival in Torroella de Montgri
Arrival in Gerona by train or by plane. Note that Gerona is serviced by low-cost carrier Ryan Air, with connections from many different airports across Europe . We will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel located in Torroella de Montgri, a village steeped with medieval charm.  In the afternoon, you will meet our local representative who will set you up with bikes and go over the itinerary for the next few days.
 
Day 2: Torroella de Montgrí - Espolla - Torroella de Montgrí (160km - 99 miles or 95km - 59miles)
Our first route takes you north through the upper part of the Emporda region (Alt Emporda). This scenic ride passes through the area of Albera, known for producing wine and olive oil. Note that for your first training day, you have the option to cover the whole 160 km ride or to cut it short to 95 km . Whichever option you choose, olive groves, vineyards, and small villages, such as Terrades with its views over the Sierra d’en Clotes, make this ride a memorable one and a great start!
 
Day 3: Torroella de Montgrí - Cadaqués - Torroella de Montgrí ( 135 km – 84 miles )
The first part of your ride flirts with the scenic coast and takes you through the medieval villages of L´Escala and Castello d´Empuries. Although you may want to pile quality miles and keep the number of stops to a minimum, consider stopping in Cap de Creus, where the 10th century monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes is highly recommended. Further on, you will ride through the fishing villages of El Port de la Selva and beautiful Cadaques, once a magnet for the likes of Picasso, Chagall, Man Ray, and most importantly, Salvador Dali, who called Cadaques home. The way bike is a fairly easy ride with two climbs - the Santa Helena (505m) and the Coll de Perafit (260m) – as well as the beautiful village of Sant Pere Pescador ..
 
Day 4: Torroella de Montgrí - Sant Feliu de Guíxols - Torroella de Montgrí ( 100 km – 62 miles )
Today’s itinerary takes you along the coast (Costa Brava) through several beautiful historic villages, such as Pals, Palafrugell, Palamos and Sant Feliu de Guixols, before riding back inland over Baga d´en Gussinyer and entering the Las Gavarres mountains where the climbs of Sant Grau d´Ardenya (400m) and Montagut (505m), with its historic castle, are sure to spice up your day. The last part of your ride is no less scenic and includes the beautiful village of Romanyá de la Selva .
 

Day 5: Departure
After breakfast, we will transfer you from Torroella de Montgrí to Girona or Flaçà (train station) (Optional)
 
   
Booking & Pricing:

Price: From 515 euros per person sharing a room.

  • 515 euros per person January - June 30 (except Easter) and September - December. Single supplement is 140 euros
  • 715 euros July 1 through August 31.  Single supplement is 220 euros.

  • Transfer from Torroella de Montgri to Gerona on Day 5
