View Map
This tour will take you on very quiet roads through Normandy's cider region.

Scenic and inspiring Honfleur is yours to discover.
This self-guided tour allows you to experience Normandy’s famed Pays d’Auge region. Known as the “Garden Coast” it could easily serve the planet’s template for pastoral awe. Having grown up in this area, we’ve designed this tour so as to maximize your Pays d’Auge experience, making your entire five-day ride feel like a celebration of everything that’s great in life – food, history, food, art, food, architecture, food and food.

Beginning in Cambremer and ending in Honfleur, you’ll ride past medieval-like settings of timber-framed homes tucked among the folds of rolling green pastures and the shadows of apple orchards. You’ll also pedal along the Normandy Coast, while visiting the resort towns of Trouville-sur-Mer and Deauville-sur-Mer, Northern France’s answer to the Riviera.

You’ll spend two nights in Honfleur, a picture-perfect fishing village that served as the initial muse for Claude Monet and helped spawn Impressionism. When not riding, you’ll enjoy the region’s many gifts to the dining world, including: cider, calvados, oysters and Camembert cheese. And while you ride from Cambremer to Honfleur, we’ll shuttle your luggage, so you can focus on visiting castles and making poignant toasts in between sips of calvados. Close proximity to Paris translates to fast and easy accessibility to this region. Finally, best of all, you’ll be able to pedal at your own pace as this is a self-guided tour, making this a perfect tour for all riding-abilities.

An early arrival will allow time for swimming in the hotel pool or wandering through town tasting area specialties that begin with the letter C: cider, calvados, Camembert cheese. Since this is a self-guided tour, one of our representatives will be available on hand to go over your ride in step-by-step detail and answer all questions, so when it comes time ride you’ll know where to go, what to see and what to expect. Please note that we can transfer you and your luggage to your hotel upon your arrival in the Lisieux train station (see price details below in “Pricing”).
Day 2: Cambremer to Cambremer (36 or 48 kilometers / 22 or 30 miles)
Today you’ll ride a through a pastoral landscape of hobbit-like, timber-framed homes (some with thatched roofs) nestled among apple orchards and overgrown meadows full of grazing dairy cows and horses – Normandy at its rural best. Along the way you’ll visit Le Château de Crèvecoeur. Surrounded by a moat, this timber-framed castle, along with its meticulously maintained grounds, is tended to with museum-like care, providing fantastic insight to life in the Middle Ages. For lunch you’ll stop in Saint-Julien-le-Faucon, a tiny village of less than 600 residents, before continuing on to the commune of Coupesarte, and then returning to Cambremer. If you opt for the longer loop you’ll also visit the commune of Saint Germain-de-Livet. Built in the 16th century, this timber-framed castle, with its checkerboard façade and turret-framed entrance, casts a regal-like air, worthy of at least 17 camera shots. The interior even features furniture once owned by famed French painter, Eugène Delacroix.
Day 3: Cambremer to Honfleur (48 kilometers / 30 miles)
Pedaling eastward, you’ll cross the Touques River at Le Breuil-en-Auge and have the opportunity to further wow the taste buds with more cider and calvados samplings, compliments of nearby orchards. You’ll then continue into the picturesque village of Blangy-le-Château for a short break, and then ride into Honfleur, located along the Seine estuary. This scenic coastal village is known as the “City of Painters.” It once gave rise to such world-changing artists as Gustave Courbet, Claude Monet and Eugène Boudin. Both beautiful and historic, Honfleur will serve as your home for the next two nights.
Day 4: Honfleur to Honfleur (35 or 48 kilometers / 21 or 30 miles)
Today you’ll follow the famed Normandy coast into the neighboring villages of Trouville-sur-Mer and Deauville-sur-Mer, exposing you to some of France’s greatest displays of Anglo-Norman Architecture. These twin villages also exude resort-like atmospheres, earning the collective label of being, “The Riviera of the North.” You’ll then begin looping back to Honfleur on a more inland route highlighted by the Saint-Gatien Forest and Le Château Guillaume-Le-Conquérant. Built in the 12th century atop a rocky spur by William the Conqueror, this beautifully restored castle overlooks the town of Falaise and the surrounding valley. The longer loop will also include visits to the commune of Beaumont-en-Auge and Le Manoir des Evêques located in Canapville.
