| Itinerary | ||||||
| Day 1: Arrive in Brittany (La Gouesnière/Cancale) Your short escape begins with a relaxing visit to one of Brittany’s most welcoming hotels, La Maison Tirel Guerin. Located about three hours from Paris by train, the hotel is a quick walk from the train station at La Gouesnière - Cancale - Saint-Méloir-des-Ondes. In addition to offering excellent service for over a century, the hotel’s restaurant is recognized as one of the best in the region. Start your short escape off right by enjoying a first-rate meal and unwinding at the hotel’s pool and sauna or booking spa treatments! |
| Day 2: La Gouesnière/Cancale – Mont-Saint-Michel (45 km or 28 miles) Begin your trip with a short detour to Cancale, a few miles north of the hotel. You may ride all the way to the scenic Pointe du Grouin, a rocky promontory separating the English Channel from the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. The point serves as the starting line for the Route du Rhum, a transatlantic sailing race to Guadeloupe. Head south to Cancale, a pretty fishing village with a port full of sailboats. Imagine yourself riding through an impressionist painting as you continue south along the bay to Mont-Saint-Michel. From your hotel’s unbeatable location on the bay, the views of Mont-Saint-Michel are simply breathtaking – especially when the island is lit up at night. |
| Day 3: Mont-Saint-Michel to Dol-de-Bretagne (30 to 50 km or miles) Take advantage of the opportunity to visit Mont-Saint-Michel and tour the abbey before other tourists descend on the island. The village has perfectly retained its medieval atmosphere and is delightful to explore. When you are eager to get back on your bike, pick one of two inland route options to Dol-de-Bretagne. A mix of granite and wood-framed buildings, Dol-de-Bretagne is a shining example of traditional Breton architecture. Don’t miss St. Samson cathedral or the town’s famed menhir, which is a tall, upright stone erected for some unknown purpose in prehistoric times. Your comfortable hotel for the night is conveniently located right in the center of town. |
| Day 4: Depart Dol de Bretagne Your tour concludes following breakfast. As your hotel is located only a five-minute walk from the train station, you are perfectly situated to take an express TGV to Paris or a regional train to another destination. |
