The Verdon canyon is one of the many highlights of this extraordinary cycling tour.
On your last ride, your cycling tour will take you through Saint-Tropez.

We've named this cycling tour "Blue Provence" after the clear blue Provencal sky and the blue of the Mediterranean Sea. As you cycle, you will of course experience many shades of beautiful colors: the red of the Esterel Mountain Range, the green of the Verdon river, or the purple of the flowers...

It is an extraordinary trip that will be best enjoyed if you have some mileage under your belt... The terrain is not that easy, making this trip an ideal one for riders in need of quality miles before the real season starts...

It can be combined with some of the numerous cyclosportives that take place in this part of France...

Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive in Nice
Arrive in Nice conveniently serviced by regular and low-cost airlines. You will be transferred to Vence where your hotel is located. If you arrive early enough why not go for a quick spin and explore the area. Magnificent and perched Saint-Paul-de-Vence is just a few pedal's strokes. Dinner and overnight in Vence.

Day 2: Backcountry villages loop (55 km or 35 miles)
This very scenic loop will take you through magnificent villages following a road that will at times overlook the "Big Blue" or the nearby alpine peaks of Mercantour mountain range. Needless to say, this route is visually stunning... Among of interest are Saint-Jeannet hanging on a cliff, and the perched village of Gattière. Dinner and overnight in Vence.

Day 3: The "Napoleon Road" (71 km or 44 miles)
Today's itinerary will take you through the medieval village of Tourettes-sur-Loup made famous by its violet growers. You will soon reach the "Gorges du Loup," an impressive deep and narrow canyon carved by the Loup river, before reaching an unexpected wild and unhabited area. Natural beauty at its best! Dinner and overnight in Castellane.

Day 4: Verdon Canyon Loop (99 km or 62 miles)
Leaving your hotel behind, you will soon reach the spectacular Verdon Canyon. At times, the river flows 400 meters (1,200 ft.) underneath... It is an ideal playground favored by mountain-climbers, rafters, etc... Pretty villages such as Moustiers-Sainte-Marie will provide an ideal stop before proceeding on... Dinner and overnight in Castellane.

Day 5: Sky Blue and Sea Blue Ride (75 km or 47 miles)
You will leave "Upper Provence" ("Alpes de Hautes Provence") and its wild expanses of green populated by shepherds and their sheep and head south towards the Mediterranean Sea. You'll soon discover a whole new face of Provence... the Riviera that attracts the rich and famous! Dinner and overnight in Théoule (or Mandelieu)

Day 6: The Golden Corniche (various options ranging from 42 km or 26 miles to 108 km or 67 miles)
Various options will take you along the sea shore. The red Esterel Mountains will be the highlight of your ride as they offer visually stunning colorful views... beyond description. This loop favored by local clubs will conclude your tour... unless you opt to add a day or two to do one of the many cyclosportives in the region. Dinner and overnight in Théoule (or Mandelieu)

Day 7: Transfer from Théoule to Nice
After breakfast, we will transfer you to Nice at the time of your choice.
