cycling trips through lavender fields in ProvenceFor a cycling enthusiast, little beats seeing Provence from the seat of a bike.

Focusing on Peter Mayle's Luberon, Van Gogh's Alpilles, and other fascinating areas of Provence, our tours are designed to show riders all the facets of the beautiful Provence countryside - it's like riding into a different Impressionist painting every day!

We offer a wide variety of trips for individuals, couples, familieself-guided bicycle tours in Provences and small groups. Regardless if you are a first time rider or a seasoned racer we have a tour for you!

Leisure riders need not worry that by doing short distances you'll miss out on experiencing some of Provence's magic. The region is so culturally diverse that a mere 20-mile ride will transport you to an area that is staggeringly different from the one you just pedaled away from a few hours before--a Provence feature that always amazes first time visitors.

The hardcore rider will also find a route to his liking. Ventoux--one of Lance Armstrong's favorite climbs--represents a hard to pass up challenge for any deservedly named "cyclist."

For more information on Provence, we invite you to read the following guides:

Rough Guide Provence We've used it a lot. We like their recommendations and we enthusiastically recommend it.

Michelin Guide Provence A reference guide. We strongly recommend it as a complement to the Lonely Planet or the Rough Guide.

Lonely Planet Provence We've used it. Although it is well-done, we've disagreed with some of their recommendations.

Guide Hachette Vacances Provence & Côte d'Azur We know the French version of this guide. Although not as thorough as some other books, it covers the essential.

Time Out South of France We like the Time Out guidebooks. They cover more than touristy things.

Michelin Map of the Riviera Among the ones we used. If you have to buy a map, go for Michelin.

Seeking the High Yellow Note: Vincent Van Gogh in Provence, a Novel We haven't read it yet, but we heard very good things about it.

A Year in Provence The book that made Peter Mayle famous. We loved it!!! Witty, funny and so true! Whether we like it or not (as French born and raised).

Toujours Provence Peter Mayle's sequel to "A Year in Provence." A sense of "deja-vu." Still, we laughed.

South of France We heard very good things about this guide. We cannot vouch for it as we haven't read it yet.

  Provencebeyond.com
A very comprehensive website about Provence. Tons of information just a click away.
