More infos BOOK NOW !Remember the feeling of freedom you had when you first learned to ride a bike as a child and were able to ride by yourself... without your parents in tow. Who wouldn't want to go back in time and be 10, 20, 30 years younger... or more to experience that great feeling again? The Gravel bike is a time machine! It will take you there and even further!
Our trip is designed not only for riders who enjoy gravel biking, but also for riders who would like to give gravel biking a try. There's nothing technical, just a few meters of singletrack, one or two spots (depending on the weather) where you'll have to push your bikes, and the rest is on a mix of back roads and forest trails.
Away from traffic, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Geneva, the Jura mountains, the Alps, and ride through beautiful lakeside villages, vineyards, and farmland, some in Switzerland, some in France.
The tour starts in the center of Geneva. A 5-minute walk from the main train station will take you to your hotel, which is conveniently located... the most interesting neighborhoods are all within a short walk, whether you choose to stroll along the lake and enjoy a beer in the emblematic Bains des Paquis, have dinner in a lively restaurant in the Paquis area, or visit the old town.
Your first day is ideal for testing your skills... nothing is difficult, but a good part of the ride in the foothills of the Jura is on forest roads... For some, this may be their first taste of gravel. Be careful, the gravel virus is highly contagious! You may never set foot on a road bike again! Divonne on the Swiss/French border may be a good choice for lunch, whether you choose a picnic by the lake or a real lunch in town. The last part is pure bliss...downhill with amazing views of the snow-capped Alps. For the lakeside town of Nyon, take the ferry to Yvoire, your home for the next 2 nights.
On this day you can relax, visit the beautiful medieval village of Yvoire, go for a short ride or opt for our ride. Needless to say, this last option is highly recommended. Our loop is a mix of roads, forest roads, trails and some singletrack that encapsulates this unique region. The first part of the ride takes you through a nature reserve (Domaine de Guidou) before reaching the Port of Sechex, with its stunning views over the Swiss part of the lake. With its sunny terraces, it is hard not to stop for a quick coffee! Although the next section is on road through a commercial area, you'll soon be back on dirt... It will soon feel so remote! It's hard to imagine that you're just a few pedals away from one of the most densely populated areas in Europe. We're not big fans of riding in traffic, so we've found ways to ride back to Yvoire on a mix of trails and forest roads. You may have to pushing your bikes for 200 meters, but it's totally worthit! We highly recommend stopping in Ballaison before headingback to Yvoire.
Again, the ride is a mix of roads, greenways, forest roads and singletrack... with pretty and picturesque villages. The first of these offer both! Nernier, just a few pedals from Yvoire, is a must! It runs through farmland and vineyards, with some sections offering views of the lake and the Jura mountains, and others of the Alps, including Mont Blanc. The village of Choulex, one of the last villages before re-entering Geneva, is an ideal stop. For the return trip, we offer you to follow a paved greenway back to Geneva. But if you haven't had enough gravel for the day, you can also choose the longer option, which will take you along the wild Arve River to the center of Geneva.
